Planter Girl is a digital media platform supporting underrepresented women's experiences in navigating environmentalism and community action. We’re building a team of ambitious young women to transform their ideas into grassroots community action + science communication within their communities. The goal of this advisory board is to help Planter Girl's mission to generate young women-led climate impact across the U.S.
Who We’re Looking For
Underrepresented women based in the U.S. (aged 18–35) who care deeply about the environment and advocating for their communities. We value lived experience, regional knowledge, and passion to best contribute to this cohort.
The Commitment (When & Where)
Where: Fully remote via Zoom 60 to 90 minute virtual main sessions in Jan, Mar, June, Aug, Oct, Nov to Dec 2027.
Time: 1-2 hours per session.

Advisory Board members serve a 1-year term for the 2026–2027 cycle (running through November 2027).
We will meet virtually once every 2 months for a structured, low-pressure check in. This is where we will brainstorm ideas, review upcoming publications, and connect regional stories across our networks.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Selected applicants will be contacted via email by Mid- January with next steps and an invitation to our inaugural cohort onboarding call.

Serving as an advisory member is currently a voluntary opportunity. Although joining the board gives you space to build relationships with brilliant women across the country, experiment with science communication, and experiment with your ideas through “Planter Girl”. We want this to be a low-pressure space where we gather to talk about local issues, learn from each other’s lived experiences, practice building public projects facing campaigns together.

As an advisory board member, you’ll build a real portfolio of collaborative public scholarship, digital communications, and civic advocacy projects. We view this as a two-way relationship meaning that we are fully committed to supporting your growth through letters of recommendation, LinkedIn references, and helping you frame your contributions clearly for future opportunities. We’re eager to support our young passionate women with recommendations, references, and professional guidance whenever you need it.
