Our Mission

Planter Girl is a purpose-driven multi-media publication that empowers underrepresented women from Black, Indigenous backgrounds by providing accessible environmental education, cultural storytelling. We combine science communication and community storytelling to amplify immersive experiences in hopes to build a vibrant network of proud black and brown advocates around climate justice, creative expression in their communities

Our mission is to make environmentalism feel personal, liberating, and rooted in joy for underrepresented women. We are redefining what it means to live consciously, build community, and take up space.

Impact Goals

  1. Document the Current State of Women’s Place

Build a living digital record of Black and Brown land relationships, culture, memory, and the American South & publish a digital archive 100+ place-based stories from underrepresented women documenting their connections to Southern landscapes and culture for youth audiences.

2. Grow Environmental Leadership

Expand Regional Reach: Scale our digital storytelling platform to reach 15,000+ readers and viewers annually across the American South.

3. Turn Stories Into Action

Turn what we learn from our communities and field notes into real action through local education, events, and hands-on projects mobilizing 250+ people to engage in conservation in the places they call home.
